This blog post will be broken down into two parts:

Top Directors/Producers
1. You will each research one of the following directors/producers: Steven Spielberg (E.T.), Alfred Hitchcock (Psycho), Francis Ford Coppola (Apocalypse Now), George Lucas (American Graffiti), Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver).  Students must each choose a different director and directors will be chosen in class.  You will each be creating a 10-15 minute PowerPoint presentation about your director.  You will include the life of your director, achievements, movies directed, film style, awards, brief movie clips, etc.  Your movie clips must be no longer than five minutes in total.  You will also create a one-page handout which includes the most important information and images that relate to your director.  The only thing you will actually post in this part of your blog will be the director you have chosen.  You are required to have one slide in your PowerPoint that cites all resources you used.
Class presentations: Monday March 25!

Film Review
2.  After our lesson about how to write a film review, you will use critical analysis to review a film directed by the director you completed your presentation about.  Suggested movies are in brackets above or can be found on IMDB.com.  You will submit a 2 page double spaced film review.  Your film review will be posted on your blog site and a hard copy will be submitted to me.

THE ROLE OF SYMBOLS IN SOCIETY!

Information is registered in several different ways in our society.  Text is one of the most common ways we process and understand information, but symbols play a crucial role as well.  Take for example, the symbols located on the side of the highway.  They provide important information about where to find gas, restrooms, food, accommodations, etc. in a language that speaks to the majority of individuals.

The following link provides several examples of common symbols seen in society:
